Additional Information

Daniel Frédéric Mathile was the second son of Daniel and Marguerite (Simon) Matile of Rochefort and Boudry, Neuchâtel.

Daniel married Louise Thiébaud on 22 February 1800 in Lignerolles.

The couple had four sons:

  1. Frédéric Louis Mathile 1800-? born in Gand, Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium
  2. Paul Henri Mathile 1803-1848
  3. Louis-Adolphe Mathile 1806-?
  4. Jules Mathile 1810-?

Daniel Frédéric and Louise lived in Gand, Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium in 1800-1801, perhaps longer.

Daniel Frédéric worked as textile imprinter and foreman in Boudry.

In 1821, Daniel Frédéric migrated to Mulhouse, France with his family for better work opportunities in the textile industry. By 1829, and probably before, he was employed by the Kochelin Brothers in Mulhouse.

His wife Louise died in 1829 in Mulhouse. On 10 November 1830, he remarried Anne Marie Koenig, widow, in the same city. They had one daughter together, Eugenie in 1831.

Daniel Frédéric died on 8 June 1842 in Mulhouse. His place of burial is unknown.

There is no evidence to suggest that he petitioned to become a French citizen.
